JAGUAR E-Type 1972 Conertible

V12 - 5.3ltr Automatic - Power Steering

This Jaguar V12 E-Type Converible Automatic finished in Black on Black is very rare. I have owned this vehicle personally for approximately 14 years & it is regretfuly that I am offering it for sale. I am more into my car racing these days with my XJS twin turbo V12 & B1 as it is affectionately known (I had another Black Jag, so they become B1 & B2) is not often taken out. I am preparing an XKR for our own use & I intend to keep that for a long time, so I have to seriously look at all the Jaguars that I have collected (I often wondered where all my money has gone - all I need to do is looking in the garages!)

The second last photo was taken Australia day just passed, on its annual trip to the centre of Sydney where we display our Jag's with all the other wonderful vehilces (approx 1600) in Macquarie Street Sydney, in the NRMA Motorfest day. As can be seen in the photo, the vehicle always attracts a lot of attention & is one of the most photograhed E-Types on show.

I will list the GOOD & then the BAD (there is certainly NO UGLY)

  • Engine is the V12 5.3ltr & runs beautifully. Still has the original 4 x Stromberg carbies which run great & offer good fuel economy.
  • New water pump just fitted with new stainless header tank & brand new radiator hoses throughout.
  • New Fireball electronic ignition fitted & what a difference it has made. The original Opus system has worked well for me over the years (as well as it can - a notoriously poor system from new) The Fireball system has not only made a better spark, but has also offered the reliability that was questionable before.
  • Automatic 3 speed gearbox & is a pleasure to drive. When I first decided to buy a V12, I originally wanted a manual but the auto is a pleasure to drive & certainly easier in traffic. Because of the torque of the engine, a manual is not needed & you can drive it thru manually if desired.
  • The body is in good condition & polishes up with a shine like it was painted yesterday.
  • The leather seats & trim is in very good condition.
  • The roof is made out of double duck (the same as most European vehicles) & is in very good condion.

  • There are also a couple of minor marks on the body as you would expect, but I am being very fussy on my descripion & probally pointing out things that most people would never notice.
  • The carpets are a bit faded & was a job I was going to do soon.
  • The seats are in very good condition , but has small scuff marks where the hood comes down.
  • I have an original hood bag, but was going to get it replaced when I had the carpets done.

In summary this is a great looking vehicle & is a great opportunity for someone now to enjoy B1 as we have for the past 14 years. Being over 30 years old means that you can register it thru you club for only $55.00 per year including the Green slip (NSW prices - we dont know the interstate prices & regulations) We can not state what else it would need for registration.

The chap I purchased the vehicle off paid over $100,000.00 for it in the late 80's & with some work it could easily come back up to that standard. This is not a concours vehicle but one that you can drive & enjoy. As I said above I have to look at what vehicles I will keep for myself & I wish I could keep them all.

Buyer to contact me within 24 hours and must place a 10% deposit to secure the vehicle. I reserve the right to relist or offer a next chance to the next highest bidder if a deposit is not received or other arrangements are made.
