JAGUAR 420G 1967 - Very unusual conversion V8 350 Chev 3 speed Auto Power steering, Air cond unit (not hooked up)

"The looks & the sounds of the 60's"

This Jaguar 420G 1967 is in very good condition. It has been fitted with a V8 350 Chev engine & an automatic gearbox. We presume it is a 350 engine because it has a 4 barrel carby on it but we can not see any numbers on the block, so it could be a 327 or a 307. It has been fitted with a single pipe exhaust & sounds extremely sweet. The vehicle is in very good condition inside and out as per the photos. Unfortunately, the vehicle was parked up in 2006 & we have had the vehicle recommissioned by our Jaguar specialist mechanic. He has totally flushed & cleaned the fuel system including the carburettor. The brakes have also been flushed with new brake fluid & bled, so they are now working great. He has also gone over the car to ensure that it was safe to drive back to Penrith. It has not been inspected for a Blue slip but everything appears to be working fine when we drove it for about 50kms back to our factory.

The 420G is the follow on model of the famous Mk10, with all the great features such as 4 wheel disc brake & independent rear suspension which makes the vehicle drive very different to the earlier Mk2's with their live rear ends. It is the same rear end that was fitted to the E-Types/ XJ's & continued production until the late 1980's & the early nineties.

I will list the GOOD & then the BAD (there is certainly NO UGLY)

The GOOD (Work completed)

  • The engine is the 350 V8 chevy & runs beautifully. Once primed it starts on the push of the button.
  • The vehicle can be placed on Class D Historic registration.(less than $50.00 per year for Green slip & Registration for 60 days per year in NSW)
  • The seats, door trims, carpets & roof lining have all been replaced or are in good condition. The seats have been retrimmed in velour & are very comfortable. The timber is in good condition & the rear picnic tables are also in excellent condition.
  • Aunger style wheels fitted all round. The tyres are old & should be replaced (14")
  • The BAD (Work to complete)
  • It will need an engineers certificate for the conversion but this all appears to be done correctly & certainly drives well (should be approx $500.00 but please don't quote us as all engineers are different).
  • There are a couple of small marks on the body & should buff out. There are some small bubbles showing that will probably be rust & there a couple of patches need to be patched on the top of the doors (see photos).
  • Tacho & oil pressure gauges are not connected. All other gauges are working except the clock which is only correct twice a day.
  • General tidy up of the car & a detail polish would make the world of difference.
  • Has a rear mount air conditioning unit in the boot but is not connected. Very rare to see these units still fitted to the vehicle.

In summary this is a great looking vehicle & is a great opportunity for someone to finish fitting the vehicle up to their standards. Would make an excellent "Club Car" for someone & would qualify for club rego being over 30 years old. This means that you can register it thru you club for less than $50.00 per year including the Green slip (NSW prices - we don't know the interstate prices & regulations) We can not state what else it would need for registration, but once the above items are attended to, it should pass OK.
